Battle of Potidiana - second battle of the Optio campaign

Here’s the second battle from the Hoplite Greek campaign game between Peter and myself. After his defeat at the Battle of the Pass, General Ophonahos with his army retires into Doris in the direction of Cynus. Instead of pursuing him, General Attalos lays siege to Potidiana. If he can destroy it Ophonahos will have one element less of Cavalry and Psiloi for his army. This is not to be borne!

Battle report here.

Incidentally, I notice that images in a blog post display at a pretty low resolution. You have to click on them to get the full glory.

  1. Another beuatifully illustrated "After Action Report" from your Greek campaign. I recall reading what size playing area is required (in terms of LxW squares / grids) but what size square are you using for your battlefield grid? Just to help me envisage your playing area. 2. Glad you enjoyed it, Carl. Grid squares need to be large enough to accommodate two stands side by side with a little extra space for the general/commander. For standard 4cm-wide stands that comes out at 10cm x 10cm.

I'm musing the idea of doing terrain maps for other rulesets like DBA and Triumph if there's sufficient player interest. Shouldn't be too difficult.
